Public School Pre-K and Head Start programs are state and federally funded and income based; therefore, there are limited openings available at each site. Completing an application does NOT guarantee placement. Students are NOT accepted on a first come, first serve basis. All applicants who have a completed application will be processed in August. Accepted participants will be notified the second or third week of the new school year.
Head Start Performance Standards (1305.3; 1305.4; 1305.5; 1305.6; 1305.7; 1305.8; 1305.9) state the requirements for determining community needs and recruitment areas. These contain requirements and procedures for the eligibility determination, recruitment, selection, enrollments, and attendance of children in Head Start programs. In carrying out this responsibility, the grantee has set as its primary objective for recruitment that of providing the maximum number of needy, eligible children with the Head Start experience before they enter kindergarten. Since the grantee cannot serve all eligible children, it is felt that priorities for recruitment must be established. In addition, recruitment must be carried out in such a way as to minimize personal bias.
