The Mission of BROC Head Start is to provide quality individualized comprehensive services that empower and foster healthy development and increases social competence of young children in low-income families. BROC Head Start services are also family centered, following the belief that parents are respected as the primary educators and nurturers of their children.
BROC Head Start is a federally funded program that helps low-income children, their families, and the communities overcome the effects of poverty and prepares children to start school. Since it’s inception, BROC Head Start has succeeded by promoting school readiness in children and self-sufficiency for their families. The BROC Head Start program has been operating in Allegheny, Ashe and Wilkes Counties since 1966 under the sponsorship of BROC. Head Start is designed to meet the families’ needs to function to full potential in the following ways:
