A comprehensive full-year/full-day child development program for three- and four-year-olds.
The mission of the program is to develop/enhance the social, emotional, health, nutritional, and psychological needs of children from economically disadvantaged families.
Ten percent of the Head Start slots are allocated for Children with Special Needs (Handicapped).
Head Start promotes school readiness of low-income children by enhancing their cognitive, social and emotional development in a learning environment that supports children's growth in language, literacy, mathematics, science,social and emotional functioning, creative arts, and physical skills.
Early Head Start provides early,continuous, intensive and comprehensive child development and family support services on a year-round basis to low-income families to enhance the physical, social,emotional,and intellectual development of infants and toddlers from birth to age three and pregnant women.
